McDonald’s New York Metro Region has opened a new restaurant concept in New York City – the first of its kind in the United States.

Inspired by an existing McDonald’s concept that originated in France, the newly-launched restaurant is the latest move in McDonald’s larger efforts to elevate the customer experience in the New York Metro region.

Adapting to the changing tastes of its customers, McDonald’s has employed a contemporary design concept which merges technology, quality service and thoughtful design to deliver a forward-thinking dining experience.

The design concept came about through a partnership between the well-known French designer Patrick Norguet and McDonald’s Global Design team.

Together, they have designed a number of other restaurants located mostly in France, as well as one located in the Netherlands and one in Italy.

Located at 809 6th Avenue in Chelsea, the restaurant is owned and operated by PJ Fonseca, a third-generation McDonald’s franchisee.

“Everything about this restaurant model – from the layout, to the table service, to our new menu offerings – is focused on the customer,” said Fonseca. “This model emphasizes simplicity to set the stage for a different kind of McDonald’s experience.”

Upon entering, guests are greeted by a restaurant concierge who welcomes them inside. For those looking to order at their own pace, self-order kiosks built into the wall empower guests to browse the menu, find new options and tailor their meal just the way they want. Customers may also approach the front counter to order from an employee.

Raw materials such as wood, concrete and metal create texture within the clean, modern layout. The sleek interior features a redesigned kitchen area, with curated kitchen views, open counters and a seated counter with baked goods on display. After ordering, guests may take a seat and wait for a server to bring the order to their table.

New menu offerings include a variety of baked goods that are baked fresh daily, freshly brewed McCafé espresso, made with 100 percent sustainably grown Arabica beans.

The restaurant also offers Signature Crafted items, a line of chicken sandwiches and burgers available in select restaurants that can be customized with new premium toppings.

“McDonald’s is on a journey toward becoming a modern and progressive burger company,” said Gino Potesta, Vice President and General Manager of McDonald’s New York Metro Region.

“The launch of this restaurant is a testament to our commitment to building a better McDonald’s and offering our customers an elevated experience that they will notice and appreciate.”

As one of the brand’s flagship markets, McDonald’s New York Metro Region represents one of the world’s best known brands within the Tri-State area.

Based in Iselin, New Jersey, the regional office oversees 600 McDonald’s restaurants and more than 100 franchisees located throughout the New York, New Jersey and Connecticut Tri-State region.
