Ian Schrager yesterday (Tuesday) closed on the $48 million purchase of 355 and 358 West Street in the West Village.

The deal takes the hotelier a step closer to his plan to build an 88-unit luxury tower in partnership with developer Steven Witkoff and Howard Lorber’s Vector Group..
According to public records, Schrager paid $37.2 million for 355 West Street, a single story property offering 41,000 buildable square feet. The seller was Weinberg Properties.
358 West was purchased for $11.3 million. Currently home to a three-story commercial building and 12,250 buildable square feet, that property was sold by William Gottlieb Real Estate.
Schrager intends to construct a 12-story apartment building that will face the Hudson River.
It will be constructed on a site that also includes 156 Leroy Street and 359 West Street — a parcel he purchased with equity from Steven Witkoff and Howard Lorber.
The tower has been architects Herzog & de Meuron
