RXR Realty supported Volunteers of America’s (VOA) Operation Backpack 2012 for a second year by donating the entire 6th floor of its midtown property, 620 Avenue of the Americas, to aid the organization’s annual drive to collect new backpacks and school supplies for children living in New York City shelters. RXR’s 620 Avenue of the Americas served as the VOA’s headquarters for all deliveries, sorting, packing and distribution of the grade specific school supplies to be distributed to children in shelters across the city in time for the start of the school year. Last year Volunteers of America collected 8,000 backpacks and distributed them to more than 100 shelters citywide.
