The world-renowned Gagosian Gallery has signed a lease for 1,000 s/f of ground-floor gallery space at 821 Park Avenue on the Upper East Side.
Winick Realty Group brokers Lee Block and Kelly Gedinsky represented both Gagosian Gallery and building owner Gran Sabana Corporation in the lease transaction.
“Most of the buildings on Park Avenue don’t have retail as of right. Because of this rule, retail availabilities on Park Avenue are a rare and valuable find,” explained Gedinsky. “So when this space became vacant, ownership had a limited amount of time to find a new tenant and we are proud to have found one within that time frame who will maintain the aesthetic and integrity of this beautiful landmarked building.”
Gagosian is one of the largest galleries in the world with locations in New York, California, London, Paris, Rome, Athens, Geneva and Hong Kong.
The gallery at 821 Park Avenue is expected to open April 3 with a show called “ Last Supper,” which will feature sculptures by Swiss artist Urs Fischer.
