Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, the renowned dance company, has signed a ten-year lease on space to be used for storing and building performance sets.
Jeffrey L. Heller, Avison Young principal and managing director of the company’s New Jersey office, announced that world-famous modern dance company leased 17,583 s/f at 1 County Road, an industrial warehouse property in Secaucus, New Jersey.
The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater is relocating from its previous site in Long Island City currently undergoing redevelopment.
An Avison Young team comprising Principal and Tri-State President Arthur J. Mirante, II, Senior Vice President, Timothy Cadigan, Associate, Richard Sullivan and Associate, John Recchia represented the tenant in the negotiations.
Mirante, who serves on the board of trustees for the pioneering dance company, said, “Alvin Ailey was seeking the ideal location to serve as a storage and build-out site for both local and international performances that also offered easy access into New York City, where the company is headquartered. We considered various locations, but in the end, Avison Young felt strongly that 1 County Road presented everything our client was looking for.”
