Taconic Partners officially launched leasing at 121 West 125th Street, the long-awaited mixed-use development featuring 90,000 square feet of cutting-edge office space in the heart of Harlem alongside the National Urban League’s new headquarters and New York City’s first civil rights museum. The building represents a unique opportunity for tenants looking not only for state-of-the-art space, but also to make a statement by planting a flag in an exciting and dynamic market. The block-through destination is located along Harlem’s bustling and transit-rich commercial corridor – a mere three blocks from the Metro-North station at 125th Street – and will house Target and the very first Trader Joe’s in Upper Manhattan. Taconic has exclusively retained Newmark’s Chris Mongeluzo to market the office spaces which includes the entire fifth and sixth floors with private outdoor space and a separate office lobby.
“We’re thrilled to deliver some of the first Class A office space in Harlem along one of the greatest commercial corridors in the city,” said Jane Luger, Vice President of Taconic Partners. “As more businesses shift away from traditional office districts to areas where their employees live, this project offers companies and organizations a unique proposition comprising new, well-designed offices in the heart of Harlem, with shops, restaurants, and cultural institutions all on their doorstep. We look forward to attracting new businesses and entrepreneurs to this iconic part of New York, along with breathtaking views of the Manhattan skyline, private outdoor spaces, and unparalleled mass transit access.”
“The unveiling of this Class A asset by Taconic further reinforces their commitment to the Harlem community by offering a high-level experience for local workers – a totally new kind of office space in Upper Manhattan,” said Chris Mongeluzo of Newmark. “The property features many in-demand attributes, including proximity to mass transit, high ceilings, floor to ceiling glass with tremendous light and views, expansive floorplates, private building entrance and a 8K square-foot terrace.”
Designed by Beyer Blinder Belle, the space offers 90,000 square feet of office opportunity across two floors, featuring customizable layouts, dedicated HVAC, and floor-to-ceiling glass windows, which provide unobstructed views and plenty of natural light. In addition to the building’s retail tenants, office workers will enjoy access to a range of amenities in the office space itself, including an expansive private 10,000-square-foot terrace with skyline views of Manhattan. While part of a broader mixed-use development, the office floors will be served by a private entrance, lobby and elevators.
Situated on the bustling 125th Street corridor, the building is surrounded by an abundance of top-rated restaurants, shops and cultural institutions, located blocks from the renowned Apollo Theater, Red Rooster, and the Studio Museum. Considered Harlem’s “Main Street,” 125th Street offers nearby connections to nine subway lines, Metro-North Railroad, and the planned expansion of the Second Avenue Subway. It is also less than a ten-minute drive to the George Washington Bridge to New Jersey.
The overall building was developed by Taconic Partners along with L+M Development Partners, BRP Companies and the Prusik Group. The building is home to many non-profit office tenants including 100 Black Men, the nation’s top African American-led mentoring organization, and Jazz Mobile, whose mission is to present, preserve, promote and propagate Jazz music.
