National Realty & Development Corp., (NRDC) announced that it is beginning a comprehensive renovation of the façade at Old Colony Square Center.
Old Colony Square Center is a Pathmark-anchored shopping center located at 402 Grand Street in Jersey City, New Jersey.
The shopping center will see enhancements such as, new canopies, columns, exterior lighting, and updated storefronts utilizing fresh and modern neutral tones. Pedestrian access will also be improved with new walkways and crosswalks throughout. Renovations are scheduled to begin early summer 2013 and will be completed by year end.

“The fresh new look of Old Colony Square Center has been designed in keeping with the architecture of the surrounding neighborhood. New improvements and additions to the area include new and recently redeveloped brownstones, the opening of the Wilzig Hospital at the Jersey City Medical Center, and the recently opened M.E.T.S. Charter School, specializing in an advanced math, engineering, technology and science curriculum.”
NRDC’s portfolio comprises over 22 million square feet of real estate assets, consisting of large retail power centers, grocery-anchored community shopping centers, and corporate/ industrial business parks.
The company currently has five projects in various stages of development/redevelopment that will add to its
portfolio.
Liberty Square Center in Burlington, NJ, will expand by 40,000 s/f to accommodate a Walmart Supercenter. The Marketplace at Manville in Manville, NJ, will be expanded by 36,000 s/f or a Walmart Supercenter and the former Walmart building in Pohatcong Plaza I in Phillipsburg, NJ, will be renovated to accommodate new tenants. Early last year Walmart relocated to a larger Supercenter concept at NRDC’s Pohatcong Plaza II.
New developments include the Marketplace at Eatontown, a 450,000 s/f state-of-the-art shopping center and Market Center, a 325,000 s/f retail center which is part of the 3.5 million square foot revitalization in Quincy, MA.
