The Historic Landmarks Preservation Center (HLPC), in collaboration with the New York Preservation Archive Project, dedicated the Albert S. Bard Cultural Medallion at the NYC designated landmark Broad Exchange Building (where Bard maintained an office for over 60 years). The ceremony, part of the HLPC’s Cultural Medallion Program, celebrated the work of Bard, whose advocacy of governmental aesthetic regulation was instrumental in preserving New York City’s architectural history. He is most noted for the passage of the Bard Act, the legislation that led to the creation of the New York City Landmarks Law in 1965.
