Innovators, leaders, rising stars singled out at annual Anchin awards

Anchin, Block & Anchin LLP held its annual New York Construction Awards honoring construction, architecture and engineering industry innovators, leaders and rising stars.

Presented in co-operation with the New York Building Congress (NYBC) and industry partners, American Council of Engineering Companies of New York (ACEC New York) and the American Institute of Architects New York Chapter (AIA-NY), the event was held at Club 101.

“At Anchin, we are committed to the New York construction industry,” said Phillip Ross, Partner and Construction and Architecture & Engineering Industry Group Leader at Anchin. “We are very proud to host this important event each year.”

Richard Anderson, president of the New York Building Congress, to introduced keynote speaker Carmen Bianco, president of MTA New York City Transit, who discussed the short and long term mission of MTA NYC Transit.

He mentioned the MTA’s concentration to improve troubled train lines and their overall mission to improving on-time performance, overhauling the signal system and improving system service. Finally, Bianco encouraged attendees to help in building a better city for everyone.
Twelve awards were presented by Anchin and its industry partners at this year’s event. The judges recognized the following companies:
Industry Impact Award – Dattner Architects; Perkins Eastman; Syska Hennessey Group.

Legacy Award – Jaros, Baum & Bolles (JB&B); John Gallin and Son, Inc.; Henegan Construction Co., Inc.
Outstanding MWBE Award – Melcon General Contractors
Outstanding Public Service- Beverly Willis Architecture Foundation (BWAF); FXFOWLE; Turner Construction
Rising Star Award – Dixon Advisory; ODA
