Community Board 1 voted last night (Tuesday) to disapprove Alma Realty’s proposed development for Astoria Cove, a four-tower development with 1,689 residential units and retail space, with a number of recommendations.
The community board requested that the project incorporate the designation of 35% of the residential units for affordable housing instead of the current 20 percent. It also asked for “a guarantee of good construction and property service jobs.”
In April, the developer had cut the number of planned rent-regulated units from 340 to 295 – just over 20 percent – apparently angering some community advocates.
