Axiom Law, a law firm, is relocating from Spring Street into 20,000 s/f in the Puck Building, according to sources.
The firm will be taking the bulk of the historic building’s seventh floor, which is about 30,000 s/f in total and up until recently was used as popular events space that has hosted numerous ceremonies and parties.
Sources say rent in the deal was in the $60s per s/f, an above-market rate largely driven by the space’s unique attributes, including including skylights and large, historic arched windows that are protected from alteration because of the building’s status is a city landmark.
The property is largely leased by the architecture firm Swanke Hayden Connell. New York University also occupies space in the roughly 200,000 s/f property.
The Puck Building is owned by the Kushner family, who hired a leasing team from the real estate services firm Newmark Knight Frank, led by the company New York president David Falk and another leasing executive, Jason Greenstein, to handle vacancy in the property. For the time being, only the remaining 10,000 s/f on the seventh floor is empty.
The building, a city landmark, was constructed in the 1880s and got its name from Puck Magazine, a former tenant in the property in the late early 1900s.
