Real Estate Weekly moves to clear up confusion over Womenʼs Forum

An event planner is trying to usurp the successful Real Estate Weekly Woman’s Forum that has gained a large following over the last four years.

“Billing itself as the ‘5th Annual Real Estate Forum’ is obviously an attempt to mislead the industry,” said Christopher Hagedorn, publisher of Real Estate Weekly. “It’s an event related to our brand, the only word excluded by the deceptive promo is w-e-e-k-l-y.”

An unknown number of persons received the announcement; persons were pitched to be panelists; and four firms signed up as sponsors.

“Real Estate Weekly is not associated with the event, and people were victimized into believing it is a Real Estate Weekly-sponsored event,” Hagedorn said. Real Estate Weekly will be staging its Real Estate Weekly Women’s Forum in April, and details will be announced after the first of the year.

One company listed as a sponsor was shocked to learn that the women’s forum in the email had no association with the newspaper. The firm asked that its name remain anonymous. Other persons and industry organizations registered similar reactions when contacted last week.

Relatively unknown in the industry, the event planner, Greenpearl, had organized the forum for REW for the last four years. The agreement between the firms was not renewed for next year.
